Year-Round Thanksgiving
At every Thanksgiving holiday, it seems we are all fed the same mantra: Give thanks for the many blessings you’ve received. But most of us leave our thanksgiving on the very day and move on to Christmas, forgetting what we just learned.
I like to play a game each Thanksgiving. It’s called: “Make an Effort to Give Thanks Every Day After Thanksgiving.”
I say we all play and thank God, not just for our families and friends, but for the freedoms He’s offered us in this country: for the freedom to read our Bibles at local coffee shops, for the right to speak out for what we believe is good and biblical in our culture, for the liberty of living in a country where we swim in plenty, for the privilege of making a difference in the lives of others around us.
Even though the actual day of Thanksgiving has passed, our mission to give praise and thanks to God continues 365 days a year. Take time today and commit to every day after to meditate on what He’s blessed you with as a father/mother, sister/brother, friend, believer, and American.
